Guwahati : The banned outfit group NSCN (K) had commemorated the first death anniversary of late SS Khaplang, the former Chairman and President and the founding leader of NSCN/GPRN who died on June 9 last year.

The first death anniversary was held at NSCN/GPRN Council Head Quarter, Taka in Myanmar on June 9.

Hosts of leaders from various revolutionary organisations of Western South East Asia (WESEA) region and United National Liberation Front of Western South East Asia (UNLFW) attended the commemoration and paid tribute to the late leader.

The late leader has been instrumental in forging unity among multi-ethnic struggling nationalities of the region and the successful establishment of UNLFW under his Chairmanship was one such realisation of his broader vision and fraternal concerns for every suppressed and colonised people in the West South East Asia.

“Late SS Khaplang will always be regarded as the Patron and father of the WESEA nationalist movement and generations shall continue to draw inspirations from his exemplary leadership spanning more than five decades of sheer sacrifice and struggle until his last breath,” a top leader of
NSCN (K) said.

Church leaders, civil societies, public leaders and hundreds of admirers thronged his memorial grave and paid rich tributes in various forms. The leaders and representatives from ULFA(I),NDFB, UNLF, KYKL, KCP,
PREPAK(pro),PREPAK, NLFT, KPDC, KLO, RPF also attended the commemoration.

The NSCN/GPRN further reaffirmed its commitment to stand by the ideals of late SS Khaplang and continue to ply the path laid by him.
