Kathmandu, Nepal: Government doctors have halted their services across the country from today on the name of exerting pressure to the government to address the demands raised by hunger striking Dr Govinda KC.
With the halt of the service in all the government hospitals, the people in general are deprived from the right to get treatment.
The people thronged in the government hospitals are either compelled to return back to their home without treatment or to shift in the private hospitals to get treatment by paying costly amount.
The Doctors’ Association of Nepal (GODAN), an umbrella organization of doctors working at government health facilities have taken the decision alleging the government for failing to address the demands raised by Dr KC.
The GODAN have said that they would not resume their service unless the genuine demands raised by the agitating Dr. KC are addressed. However, there is no sign of ending the strike immediately, thanks to the government’s apathy.
The government has not only given proper attention over the worsening health condition of striking Dr. KC and his demands but also the problems faced by the people.
Though the government’s talk team and the representatives of the agitating Dr. KC have continually been holding talks since last Saturday, but no result is made yet.
The strike of Dr. KC has entered on 19 days on Thursday.
