Guwahati : At least six people including a woman were killed and 25 others injured in different parts of Assam following hailstorm and lightning lashed out in the state on Thursday night.
The massive hailstorm and lightning damaging over 200 houses and uprooted a large number of trees in upper, lower and middle Assam's districts.
According to the reports, of the six two were killed after they had been struck by lightning at Dimow and Tinsukia in upper Assam.
The hailstorm claims four more lives in Barpeta, Dibrugarh, Bokajan and Sarupathar.
In Sarupathar, a woman was killed while she had been trying to save her two child from hailstorm.
On the hand, a 3-year old girl child was seriously injured after the child drowned at a drain in Guwahati.
The storm caused extensive damage to properties in many parts of the state.
