Guwahati, August 2 : To assess the situation in Assam in the wake of the complete draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) publication, a delegation team of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) led by West Bengal minister Firhad Hakim will visit Assam on August 2-3.

The 8-member TMC delegation team by MPs Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Ratna De Nag, Nadimul Haque, Arpita Ghosh, Mamata Thakur, MLA Mohua Moitra will visit Silchar today.

Meanwhile, the Cachar district administration has imposed Section 144 of CrPC in Silchar town ahead of TMC delegation team visit.

The district administration has imposed Section 144 of CrPC in the Barak Valley town to maintain the law and order situation in the area.

On other hand, tight security has been arranged at Silchar airport and heavy security personnel have been deployed.

Assam Police ADGP (Law & Order) Mukesh Agarwala has monitored the situation.

According to the reports, Rapid Action Force (RAF), CRPF, BSF, Assam Rifles and Assam police personnel have been deployed at Silchar airport and various areas of the Barak Valley town.

A top source of the district administration said that, without permission from the district administration the TMC delegation team has planned to hold a meeting at Silchar Rajiv Bhawan and to discuss with the leaders of several Bengali organisations on the NRC issue.

On Wednesday, Assam Transport minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said that, Assam government has no objection to TMC leaders visiting Assam, but if they try to create disturbance over the NRC issue, the government will be bound to take action.
