Kathmandu, Nepal: International Organization of Employers (IOE) Secretary-General Roberto Suárez Santos is arriving in Kathmandu today for a three-day official visit to Nepal.
During his three-day official visit to Nepal that begins from July 24 to 26, he is scheduled to hold talks with concerned government officials and the office bearers of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). FNCCI is also a member of the IOE.
Santos is visiting Nepal at the invitation of FNCCI president Chandra Prasad Dhakal. It is said that FNCCI President Dhakal had extended invitation during a meeting at the International Labour Conference in Geneva last year.
The IOE that was founded in 1920 with its headquarters in Geneva. The organization is considered as the world’s largest network of private sector employees. The IOE represents more than 150 employer organizations across over 140 countries.
During his three days stay in Nepal, Santos is scheduled to hold discussions with the concerned officials focusing on Nepal’s upcoming graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category in 2026, its implications for international trade, and strategies to enhance the competitiveness of Nepal’s private sector, FNCCI president Dhakal said.
