Guwahati: Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic ‘Seven Samurai’ will be screened at Guwahati Press Club on Friday (8 June) at 3 pm. One of the masterpieces of Kurosawa deals with a story of a remote village, where the poor villagers formed a group of protectors (samurai) against the bandits and finally they succeeded in their mission.

The long movie has cinematography by Asakazu Nakai and music by  Fumio Hayasaka. Edited the Japanese director himself, the casts include Toshirô Mifune, Takashi Shimura, Kokuten Kôdô, Yoshio Inaba, Seiji Miyaguchi, Minoru Chiaki, Daisuke Katô, Isao Kimura, Kamatari Fujiwara, Bokuzen Hidari etc.

Last week, American film maker Alfred Hitchcock’s all time great 'Psycho' was screened at the press club auditorium for the benefit of its member-journalists. Produced & directed by Hitchcock, the psychological film  is based on a novel by Robert Bloch. The 1960 black and white movie centres on the encounter between a secretary, who ends up at a secluded motel after stealing money from her employer, and the motel’s disturbed owner-manager and its aftermath.
