Guwahati, June 14 : A mentally disordered woman was allegedly raped and killed in Assam’s Dima Hasao district.
Police had recovered the decomposed body of the woman from a rock hill side at Panumur area near Umrangso on June 12 and detained seven persons in connection with it.
According to the reports, 49-year-old Om Kumari Sharma resident of Panimur Garo Basti area was missing since June 8 and her family members reported a missing case before police on June 11.
Dima Hasao district Superintendent of Police (SP) Prasanta Saikia said that, police had recovered the body of the missing woman from a rock hill side at Panimur area on June 12.
The top Assam cop further said that, some injury marks have been found in the decomposed body.
“We have already sent the body for post mortem and wait for the report. It is a murder case and police had already arrested three persons and apprehended four others,” Dima Hasao district SP Prasanta Saikia said.
He further said that, the main culprit is still absconding and police has launched massive operation to catch him.
“Police has interrogated the nabbed persons to find out more information,” Saikia said.
