Guwahati : Security forces had apprehended two militants belonging to NSCN (K) and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Nagaland.
According to the reports, the Zunheboto battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) on Wednesday had conducted an operation alongwith police representative based on specific information regarding extortion, tax collection in general area Longkhim town and during the operation Assam Rifles troops apprehended two NSCN(K) militants alongwith illegal arms and incriminating documents.
The nabbed militants were identified as Kanato Sema.and Hukheto Sema.
Security forces had recovered one point 32 pistol with magazine, 25 extortion slips, GPRN/NSCN(K), 49 leaves GPRN/NSCN(K) identity cards for non locals.
Later, the apprehendee alongwith recovered items was handed over to Longkhim police station for further investigation.
On the other hand, the Dimapur battalion of Assam Rifles had conducted an operation alongwith police representative based on specific information in general area Sovima village, Dimapur and apprehended an individual in possession of illegal weapons and ammunition.
The individual was identified as Vikuosa Mepfhuo and security personnel had recovered one AK 56 Rifle, one point 303 Rifles with magazine and bayonet, two point 22 mm Rifles, two 12 Bore Gun Single barrel, one 9mm pistol with magazine, one point 32 mm Pistol Beretta, two magazine AK 56 Rifle , two magazine point 32 mm Pistol, eleven Live rounds of point 22 mm Pistol, four Live rounds of 7.62 mm, four Live rounds of 7.65 mm, 32 Live rounds of 12 Bore Gun, two fired case of 12 Bore Gun.
The apprehendee alongwith recovered items was handed over to Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.
