Guwahati, March 28 : Just three days after as arrested three Nagaland government officials in connection with illegally tax collection on behalf of several insurgent groups specially for banned outfit NSCN-K, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has issued a fresh notice to former Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang and asked him to appear before the headquarter of the investigating agency in New Delhi on March 31.
The investigating agency has also served notice to his then personal secretary K Francis Zeliang and also asked him to appear before the NIA headquarter on same day for funding insurgent groups from state exchequer.
The NIA asked TR Zeliang and his then personal secretary K Francis Zeliang to appear before the investigating team in New Delhi at 10 am on March 31 next without fail.
Earlier, on March 25, the investigating agency had arrested three Nagaland government officers in connection with illegally tax collection for the banned outfit group.
The arrested government officers are - G Ikuto Zhimomi (Director, Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima), Ketouzo Peseyie (executive engineer in state rural development department) and Sangtemchuba (divisional accounts office in Nagaland’s urban development department).
Earlier, TR Zeliang was summoned by NIA to Delhi but, Zeliang had personally written for deferment of the date because of the ongoing Nagaland Legislative Assembly session, which ended on March 26.
Just before the Nagaland assembly polls held in February last, the investigating agency had summoned three officials of Chief Minister’s office.
NIA is probing the case since August 2016.
The National Investigation Agency had arrested 10 Nagaland government officials so far in connection with the extortions and illegal tax collections.
