Guwahati : A local court in central Assam’s Hojai district on Wednesday awarded death sentence to the prime accused in the rape and murder case of a 58-year-old school teacher more than a year ago.
According to the reports, the court of Additional District and Session Judge had pronounced death sentence for prime accused in the rape and murder case Moinul Haque and given life imprisonment to co-accused Salimuddin.
It may be mentioned that, the school teacher of Jamunamukh Changjurai Ilashi Deuri LP School in Hojai district was brutally raped and murdered on May 31 last year.
Police had recovered the body of the teacher nearby Kapili river.
On June 1, 2017, Jamunamukh police had arrested one accused person Salimuddin and later arrested another accused.
“The incident was happened on May 31, 2017 while the 58-year-old teacher returned to home. Following the incident police had registered a case (52/2017) at Jamunamukh police station and police arrested one accused Salimuddin next day. Police had arrested another accused Moinul Haque on June 2 night and submitted charge sheet before the court within short period. Today the court had pronounced death sentence for Moinul Haque and given life imprisonment to Salimuddin,” an Advocate of Hojai district said.
