Guwahati : Assamese singer Angarag Papon Mahanata facing another trouble after Guwahati city police had registered a case against the singer for ‘inappropriately kissing’ a contestant in a children's reality show after the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights had lodged an FIR against him.

Guwahati city police (East) ACP Mohneesh Mishra said that, a case has been registered against Angarag Papon Mahanata and other crew members at Dispur police station under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

“The case (502/2018) has been registered based on a letter received from the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights,” Mohneesh Mishra said.

The Assam police cop also said that, police will ask the singer to corporate the investigation process.

Earlier, Angarag Papon Mahanta had quit from the show and saying that ‘truth will prevail’.

In his social media post, the singer-composer said that, since I am in no mental state to fulfil most of my professional obligations, I have decided to step down as a judge on the show till the matter in which I have been falsely implicated is fully resolved and the investigations are over.

Papon was seen kissing a minor contestant of the reality show during a live video on his Facebook account.

The incident was happened while Papon and other contestants of the &TV’s reality show celebrating a pre-Holi and where Papon and few kids interacting with the fans through a Facebook live.

The Facebook live video had gone viral in social media which sparked massive controversy across the nation.
