Guwahati : In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman was allegedly “strip-searched” at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Internationsl Airport, Guhawati after CISF lady staff wanted to verify her pregnancy.
The incident was happened on June 24 last, while the pregnant woman returning to Delhi from Guwahati with her husband after attending the last rituals of her father in Guwahati.
According to the reports, the couple Shivam Sarmah and Doli Goswami living in Delhi and came to Guwahati on June 12 after Doli Goswami’s father passed away on June 11 night.
After attending last rituals, the couple had travelled from Guwahati to Delhi by Spicejet flight SG-169 on June 24.
It is more shocking that instead of getting a medical professional to examine her pregnancy, a lady CISF staff identified as Sujata by the couple had manually examined the pregnant woman by pushing her abdomen, while Doli Goswami is 25 weeks pregnant.
According to the reports, Shivam Sarmah, husband of Doli Goswami had requested the Spicejet staff to arrange a wheelchair for his wife but the CISF staff did not hand over boarding pass and asked the pregnant woman to show proof her pregnancy.
Shivam Sarmah said that, he had shown his wife June 12 Delhi to Guwahati flight boarding pass, but the CISF staff denied to hand over boarding pass.
“The lady CISF staff asked my wife to accompany her to a room and forced to undress. The CISF lady staff also pushed my wife abdomen to check pregnancy,” Shivam Sarmah said.
