Kathmandu, Nepal, October 13, 2020: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC)’s scheduled 14th general convention for coming 19-22 February, 2021, likely to be postponed for at least three months citing the reason of spreading threat of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infections across the country including in Kathmandu valley.

Though the rival factions have yet to reach on the conclusion over whether to postpone the date for the general convention or to hold in the scheduled date, a source close to the party has claimed that the date for 14th general convention would be postponed for coming May or April, 2021.

Party president Sher Bahadur Deuba led faction has stand in favor of postponing the date for the general convention while another faction led by senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has been insisting for the timely convention.

The NC has not made any official decision about the postponement of its general convention, thanks to the differences among the rival factions. It is said that to be held Central Committee meeting would take decision to this effect.
