Guwahati, September 23 : Six hardcore militants of Karbi People's Liberation Tiger (KPLT) including two top leaders were killed and an army personnel was injured during fierce gun fight with security forces in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Friday morning, police said.
Following a tip-off troops of army and police had jointly launched operation at Banipathar area near Paklangso under Bokajan police station in the hilly district at around 1 am on Friday.
"When the troops reached the jungle area the hidden militants started firing upon the troops and heavy bullets exchanged for half an hour, in which six militants killed on spot and an army man also injured," Karbi Anglong SP Debojit Deuri said.
The top police official said that two top leaders of the outfit group killed during the gun battle and adding identification process is going on.
The injured army personnel had rushed to hospital.
Security personnel had recovered one Insas rifle, one SLR, three pistols, two hand grenades, ammunition and other war like stores from the area.
