Kohima, February 28 : A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan on election duty in Nagaland was died and several others injured in a road mishap on Wednesday morning.
According to the reports, a Tata Sumo pick up vehicle, where the SSB personnel travelled fell down more than 80 ft at Kuthur village area under Tuensang district.
The polling party was travelling from Thokoknyu to Tuensang.
A SSB jawan Atul Kumar died in the road accident and two others received serious injuries.
The reason was that, the driver of the vehicle had felt sleep while driving and he has been driving since last night from 10 pm coming from Thonoknyu assembly constituency.
In the incident, three arms belonging to the SSB personnel were reportedly missing.
On the other hand, over 80 percent voter turnout has been registered in Nagaland while 85 percent registered in Meghalaya.
The assembly polls in both the north eastern Indian states were held on February 27.
Earlier, one person was died and two others injured during clash between the supporters of BJP and ruling Naga People’s Front in Akuluto assembly constituency in Nagaland on February 27.
A civilian was also injured in a bomb explosion at a polling booth in Nagaland’s Tizit town on Tuesday morning.
Over 80 percent of 30.21 lakh voters had exercised their franchise to decide the of 565 candidates in both states.
