Guwahati, March 14 : At least three people were killed when a Manipur bound oil tanker overturned and exploded in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district on Tuesday morning, officials said. 
 
 
Ri-Bhoi district police said that, the incident happened at Mawpun village on the Shillong by-pass road near the office of Indian Council of Agriculture and Research (ICAR) on the wee houres of Tuesday. 
 
 
The Manipur bound oil tanker from Assam via Meghalaya was overturned and immediately exploded. 
 
 
The driver of the oil tanker and his two helpers died on spot and they are yet to be identified. 
 
 
Police said that, the driver of the oil tanker came from Guwahati had lost his control of the vehicle, which overturned and exploded. 
 
 
Top officials of Meghalaya police and rescue team had rushed to the area.
