Guwahati, Oct 31 : At least two people were killed and several others injured when a speeding truck ran over a Kali puja immersion procession.
The incident took place at Meherpur area, Silchar in Assam's Cachar district on Wednesday night.
According to the reports, the truck was coming from Aizawl side while the procession with the idol of Goddess Kali was moving from the opposite direction.
The truck its control and ran over the procession.
Two people were killed on spot and many others were injured in the incident.
Following the incident, angry people set the truck ablaze and blocked the road.
The injured persons were rushed to Silchar Medical College hospital.
The deceased were identified as Pompa Dey and Saloni Das.
