Guwahati : Security forces had apprehended two militants belonging to banned NSCN (K) and recovered arms and ammunition in Nagaland on Saturday, officials said on Sunday.

According to the reports, the Medziphema battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) established a check post in general area Jharnapani near Medziphema and during the search security personnel had apprehended an armed militant of NSCN(K) who was travelling from Kohima to Dimapur.

The nabbed militant was identified as Self Styled Cpl Hapang Konyak and security forces had recovered one point 22 pistol, two live rounds and a motorcycle in possession from him.

The militant revealed that he had been undertaking extortion activities in Dimapur and Kohima.

The militant along with recovered items was handed over to Medziphema police station for further investigation.

On the other hand, the Kohima  battalion of Assam Rifles had launched operation based on specific information in general area Tinpatti, Kohima district along with police representative  in Kohima.

During the operation one NSCN (K) militant was apprehended and he was identified as Tsiinuo Pienyii alias Khrielelie Pienyii.

Security personnel had recovered one cash recipt and four extortion slips amounting to Rs 1,00,000.

Later the nabbed militant along with recovered items was handed over to North Police Station, Kohima for further investigation.

In separate operation, the Assam Rifles had recovered one point 22 Auto pistol along with one Magazine from the residence of Kezhalezo Ciesotsu at Merima near Kohima.

The recovered items were deposited to North Police Station and FIR was lodged.
