Guwahati : The sleuths of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (V&AC) of Assam police had seized huge quantity of Indian currency notes and various documents from the residence of an Assam government official, who was arrested red handed by the investigation agency for taking bribe from a person for settlement of a market.
 
According to the reports, Project Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Darrang district rural development agency Bhupesh Chandra Das was caught red handed at his office at Mangaldoi in the lower Assam's Darrang district by the V&AC on Friday. 
 
A top official of V&AC said that, the arrested official had allegedly taken bribe for settlement of a local market under the office.
 
The official was caught red handed, while he had taken bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a person at his official quarter. 
 
Later, the V&AC team had raided his official quarter and residence in Guwahati and seized over Rs 2.25 lakh cash, various investment documents, bank passbooks.
 
V&AC had arrested over 50 government officials in graft cases from various parts of the state in past a year.
