Guwahati : Three times former Assam Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Tarun Gogoi on Friday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he breaks his silence over Unnao, Kathua rape incidents in London.
Tarun Gogoi slammed PM Modi and said that, PM Modi and the BJP-led government had totally failed to protect our girl child, women.
“Why he (PM Modi) has been silence so long and breaks his silence over the rape cases in London, why not in his own country. When rape cases are increased in the country from Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir to Assam, Modi and his government failed to take appropriate measures to protect girl child, women. BJP MLA also involved in Unnao rape case and the MLA was arrested last moment after protesting everywhere. Why BJP ministers in Jammu and Kashir taking sides with the culprits” Tarun Gogoi said.
The former Assam CM and senior Congress leader also said that, PM Modi’s and BJP’s “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” slogan now remains a slogan.
“They (PM Modi and BJP government) have not taken adequate measures for safety of girl child. They have not taken top most priority to maintain law and order in the country. First you have to stop it, you can’t be stopped it has to be declined. But we have never seen that, PM Modi has taken the matter as a concern PM,” Gogoi said.
The veteran Congress leader asked question to the PM that, what will be the image of the country, while the country is failed to protect own girl child, women.
“How can you (PM Modi) talk about rule of law, democracy. Image of the country even image of the Prime Minister is now down,” Tarun Gogoi said.
