Guwahati, December 6 : Police on Tuesday had arrested a youth and recovered 20 fake new Rs 500 denomination currencies in possession from him in Guwahati.
Following a tip-off, Guwahati city police had launched operation at Birubari area and recovered 20 numbers fakenotes of new Rs 500 currency and arrested a youth identified as Sachin Das in connection with it.
A top police official said that, after demonetisation a racket had printed fake notes of new Rs 500 currency and circuleted it in various areas in the state.
"We have alerted all district police to take appropriate measures against the fake note suppliers," the top police official said.
Police has interrogated the arrested youth to collect more information about the fake note supplier racket.
