Guwahati : After Karbi Anglong mob lynching incident, another such type of incident was happened in Assam.
The incident was took place at Kumrakata area in central Assam’s Hojai district and it was happened on Friday morning (June 22), where a youth hailing from West Bengal was brutally beaten up by some people in the name of child lifter (locally called Xupadhora).
According to the report, the youth identified as Nikhil Biswas worked as a handyman of a truck came to Lanka area under the central Assam district from Coochbehar on June 21 evening.
When the villagers of Kumrakata area spotted the unknown youth in their locality, they had tied the youth to a pole and brutally beat him till he fell unconscious.
The youth was beaten up by the villagers in the name of suspected child lifter.
Later, Hojai district police had reached at the area and rescued the injured youth.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Hojai district Chitren Gogoi said that, the youth named Nikhil Biswas is a truck handyman and he is hailing from Tufanganj area in Coochbehar.
“The victim youth is a handyman of a truck bearing registration number of AS-17B-3734. He reached at Lanka town area on June 21 evening and travelled some neighbouring areas. When some local people spotted the unknown youth in their locality, they suspecting him as a child lifter and local
villagers beat him. Later police rescued the youth and investigation is going on,” the police officer said.
On June 8 last, two youths from Guwahati were beaten to death by a mob in the name of child traffickers at Panjuri village under Dokmoka police station in Karbi Anglong district.
Police has arrested 36 persons so far in connection with the lynching incident.
Recently, a youth was beaten up by some people in Assam's Darrang district alleged that the youth trying to meet a local girl.
The incident took place at Mangaldoi Kalaigaon area in Lower Assam’s Darrang district, where the youth hailing from Gauripur area in Dhubri district brutally assaulted by a mob.
The victim youth was identified as Bijay Rai worked in Airtel company and he tried to meet a girl of Mangaldoi Kalaigaon locality.
When local people knew this, some people caught the youth and beat him.
On June 17 last, a girl and a boy were beaten up by some people while the local girl travelling with the non locality boy on a motorcycle and the incident was happened at Pukhuripar area under Rongjuli police station in Goalpara district.
