Guwahati : Police on Tuesday night had arrested three Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers in connection with cash-for-job in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).
The ACS officers Bhaskarjyoti Dev Sharma, Bhaskar Dutta and Amit Sharma, all of the rank of circle officer were arrested by the sleuths of Dibrugarh police, which have benn conducting investigation into the cash-for-job scam case.
A top police official said that, they were arrested on the basis of recovery of their purported answer scripts of APSC examination from the residence of former APSC chairman Rakesh Paul, who is now in judicial remand in the same case.
Meanwhile, a local court in Guwahati had sent trio to 14-day police custody after they have been appeared before the court on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay said that, police has taken the case very seriously and Assam police will not spare any person who involved in the scam.
'Investigation is going on and we have already sent the answer scripts to forensic labs, which were found from the residence of Rakesh Paul and his wife,' the Assam DGP said.
Earlier, Assam police had arrested former APSC chairman Rakesh Paul, two former members Basanta Doley, Samedur Rahman and five other persons in connection with the cash-for-job scam.
