Kathmandu, Nepal, March 26, 2023: The World Bank has announced to provide USD 120 million (about 16 billion NEPALI rupees) grant assistance to Nepal to implement the main school education sector program of the Government of Nepal.
The World Bank Executive Board of Directors decided to provide a grant on Sunday. According to the World Bank, this grant will be used to address the damage caused by schools closed due to Covid-19, build suitable classrooms and strengthen digital education. It will also be used in the scholarship program.
Investing in quality education is important for the development of human capital World Bank Country Director for the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka Faris Hadad Jervos said adding that this will also support the vision of the Nepal government to increase the quality of education and equitable access to fulfill the ambition of the new federal state.
