Police arrested four Mizo people with 20 kg gold in Guwahati

Guwahati : The Railway police on Friday had arrested four persons including two women from Guwahati railway station and recovered 20 kg gold from their possession, which is market valued about Rs 6 crore. 
 
According to the reports, Railway police had recovered 12 pieces of gold bars weighing about 20 kg during a routine checking from Delhi bound Tripura Sundari Express on Friday morning and arrested four persons hailing from Mizoram in connection with it. 
 
The arrested persons had revealed during police interrogation that, they had carried the gold bars to deliver a person in Delhi. 
 
A Railway police official said that, the gold was smuggled from neighbouring country Myanmar. 
 
"The arrested persons had smuggled the gold bars from Myanmar through the border via Manipur," the official said. 
 
In past four months, police has recovered over 50 kg gold from Guwahati 
railway station.
