Kathmandu, Nepal: The government on Thursday appointed Secretary Dr. Lawa Dev Awasthi as the chairman of Language Commission.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers made the decision to pick Dr. Awasthi as the chairman of the commission.
As per the constitutional provision the language commission has to recommend to the government on official languages for provinces.
Secretary Dr. Awasthi is regarded as the expert in education sector. He had had been serving at the Ministry of Education since long.
