Kathmandu, Nepal, February 8, 2022: The government has requested the European Union (EC) to remove Nepal from the European airspace prohibition order list. During a meeting with EU Ambassador to Nepal, Nona Deprez, at the ministry on Monday Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale made the request to this effect.
The EU has banned the Nepali airlines from flying in its airspace from December 5, 2013. Though Nepal government has been making several such requests, European Union has not removed Nepal from the European airspace prohibition order list citing safety concerns.
During the meeting, minister Ale reiterated his commitment on behalf of the Nepal government to improve Nepal's aviation security sector and flight safety as indicated by the European Union.
Responding to the concern of Mr. Ale, Ambassador Deprez stated that hat he would make call the technical team of EU to observe the flight safety situation of Nepal.
During the meeting, ambassador Deprez also reiterated his commitment on behalf of the European Union to continue assistance including in the aviation sector.
