Kathmandu, Nepal, September 18, 2020: Nepal’s coronavirus infection tally reached to 61,593 after 2,020 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours. OF them, 859 were from Kathmandu valley alone.
According to Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) 2,020 new cases of coronavirus were detected through 11,458 PCR tests conducted at various labs across the country in the past 24 hours.
This is the single day record high of coronavirus infection in the country and the Kathmandu valley as well. The recent data indicates that coronavirus infection cases have drastically been increasing in the country after government lifted the restrictions imposed earlier to contain the coronavirus.
It was said during the regular virtual press briefing that 871 persons, who earlier had tested positive for the virus, were discharged after recovery in various parts of the country in the past 24 hours. With the new updates, the number of people to be discharged after recovery has reached to 43,820.
