Guwahati : Crime branch of Guwahati city police has arrested two persons in connection with the jewellery loot incident from a jewellery shop in the capital city of Assam on Tuesday evening. 
 
On Tuesday evening at around 7-10 pm, four armed men covering their faces by masks had looted around 8 kg gold jewellery worth of several crore rupees from MP Jewellers situated at ABC area in GS road in the city. 
 
The four armed men covering their faces by masks walked into the jewellery shop and opened fire before looting maximum valuable jewellery. 
 
Following the incident, police had launched operation and arrested two persons including a security guard of the jewellery shop, who absent in duty yesterday. 
 
"Our team had arrested Prem Singh, the security guard of the jewellery shop and his associate Nilkamal Singh from Kumarikata area in Hojai district suspecting for involvement in the robbery incident," Guwahati city police commissioner Hiren Nath said. 
 
"We have received several clues into the robbery case after checking CCTV footage. Police will arrest the gang of four soon," the top Assam police cop said. 
 
An employee of the jewellery shop said that, the robbers walked into the shop and looted the maximum valuable jewellery within 6-8 minutes. 
 
"The armed men were conversing in Hindi and English," the employee of the jewellery shop said.
