Guwahati : A major fire broke out in the Assam Secretariat complex in Guwahati on Thursday, in which a part of the state finance department office was gutted in fire.
A top official of state finance department said that, the fire started in a section of Block-F building and a part of finance department office was completely destroyed in the fire.
The official said that, the fire caused by short circuit and actual cause will be find out during investigation.
"Several important files, documents were destroyed in the incident," the official said.
No injury or casualty was reported in the incident.
Later fire tenders had rushed to the area and brought the under control before it spread to other parts.
Police has started investigation to find out the actual cause of the fire
incident.
