KATHMANDU, February 3, 2026 — Kathmandu is preparing to welcome Non-Resident Nepalis from around the world as the 12th World Conference and Grand International Convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) is scheduled to take place from March 14 to 16, 2026 (Falgun 30 to Chaitra 2).
Coordination and Support
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has confirmed that preparations for this major global gathering are proceeding smoothly. As the government body responsible for Non-Resident Nepali affairs, the Ministry has been extending full support and coordination to ensure the successful organization of the conference.
History and Mission
Founded in 2003 with the guiding motto “Nepali for Nepali,” the NRNA was established to unite Nepalis living in different parts of the world under one common platform. Over the years, the organization has worked to channel the knowledge, skills, capital, and technology of Nepalis abroad into Nepal’s social and economic development. Today, it stands as a trusted institution connecting Nepalis at home and overseas.
A Landmark Unification
After facing organizational challenges following its 10th and 11th general conventions, the NRNA reached a significant milestone on November 30, 2025, when unity was restored through dialogue, cooperation, and self-reflection. This unification, achieved in the presence of the Prime Minister and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is seen as a strong step toward long-term stability and a shared vision for the future.
Conference Agenda
Building on this renewed unity, a high-level organizing committee led by the Minister for Foreign Affairs has been formed to oversee the upcoming conference. Held under the theme “Our Unity, Foundation for Prosperity,” the event will be supported by the NRNA Central Secretariat.
The three-day conference will feature in-depth discussions on key issues, including:
The Non-Resident Nepali Act.
Constitutional economic, social, and cultural rights.
Joint investment opportunities and collaboration in the tourism and health sectors.
The transfer of knowledge and technology.
Special focus on the participation of women, youth, and second-generation Non-Resident Nepalis.
Expected Participation
The event is expected to draw a wide range of participants, including representatives from the Government of Nepal, NRNA delegates from National Coordination Councils (NCCs) across the globe, NRNA activists, and prominent figures from both Nepal and abroad.
The NRNA has called on Non-Resident Nepalis worldwide to participate enthusiastically, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed confidence that active media support will help ensure the event's success.
