CPN UML celebrates its 75th anniversary of the party establishment

Kathmandu, Nepal, April 22, 2024: The CPN-UML, the second largest party in the federal parliament, is celebrating its 75th anniversary of the establishment of the party amidst a function on Monday.

The party is organizing a special function at Godavari in Lalitpur to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the party today. 

It is said that Prime Minister, who is also the Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal and President of the Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba are invited in the function. 

Likewise, the UML is also going to honor former President and the party’s former vice-chair Bidya Devi Bhandari with a national pride medal.

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) was established in Nepal on April 22, 1949 under the leadership of Pushpa Lal Shrestha. Latter, the NCP was divided into several factions. Among the several faction, one faction was named as UML.  

Pushpalal Shrestha, Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, Narayan Bilas Joshi, Niranjan Govinda Vaidya and Moti Devi Shrestha are the founding leaders of the party.
