Kathmandu, Nepal September 8, 2025: Young generation (Gen Z) staged protests in different parts of the country including in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, against corruption, mismanagement, and the government’s decision to band social media platforms.
The young generation gathered spontaneously at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu. The demonstration has been gradually taking momentum in Maitighar and surrounding areas.
Likewise, Gen Z has also staged demonstrations in other parts of the country including Dang and Butwal.
The protesters have been carrying placards with slogans such as 'discontent is extreme, the leader's pocket is hot', 'Gen Z is shouting, corrupt is teasing, 'where did the tax looters go, 'free voice is our right, stop corruption.
Such a Gen Z protest is new in Nepal. Some students are participating in the protest even seen wearing their school and college uniforms.
Nepal government had decided to ban different 26 social media platforms including the facebook from Thursday night amid the outrage from different sectors.
