Kathmandu, Nepal, May 10, 2020: Foreign Affairs Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has reiterated his commitment to resolve the border issue through the diplomatic efforts.

Presenting the government’s official views about the link road construction by India using Nepali territory Lipu Lekh in Darchula district before the Parliament’s International Relations Committee on Sunday, Foreign Affairs Minister Gyawali said to this effect without elaborating about concert plan and program of the government to stop the encroachment of Nepali territory in the borders.

Foreign Affairs Minister Gyawali had made the similar statement at the time when India had published its political map by keeping the Kalapani area of Kanchanpur district inside of its territory.  But, nothing is done yet neither in the political level nor in the diplomatic level to protect encroached Nepali territory.

Responding to the concerns of the member of the committee, Foreign Affairs Minister Gyawali also claimed that the government said it was consistently active to keep the interest of nation and national sovereignty intact.

Memes of the committee including Bhim Bahadur Rawal, a influential leader of the ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) had not only sought government’s official position over the issue of encroachment in Lipu Lekh but also criticized the government for not presenting seriously to protect the Nepali territory from the encroachment.
