Government warns to take legal actions against those involved on burning of effigy of Indian Prime Minister Modi

Kathmandu, Nepal, September 5, 2021: The government has warned to take action those, who had burnt an effigy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest on Saturday. 

Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) warned to take legal actions if such acts that hamper relationship with the friendly countries. 

Since the government has been trying to improve relationship with friendly countries, such an act that would not be tolerated, reads the press statement. 

Some members of the student union affiliated to the newly CPN (Unified Socialist) had burnt effigy of Indian Prime Minister Modi to protest against the incident that Indian security force SSB had allegedly cut off the cable while Nepali National Jaysing Dhami was crossing the Mahakali River. 

Dhami had lost his life in the incident.
