Nepal's coronavirus tally advances to 285,900 after 1,227 new cases reported in the past 24 hours

Kathmandu, Nepal, April 19, 2021:  Coronavirus infection tally of the country has advanced to 285,900 after 1,227 new cases reported from across the country in the past 24 hours on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), of the newly infected cases, 456 are females while 771 are males.

Nepal has witnessed sharp increase in coronavirus infection cases since few weeks. Infection cases have been increasing in most of the city areas including in Kathmandu valley.
  
Of the total newly infected cases, Kathmandu district alone witnessed 505 cases in the past24 hours. Likewise, 97 cases were recorded in Lalitpur district while 32 new cases were recorded in Bhaktapur district.

Meanwhile, 255 people, who were earlier infected with the virus, have been discharged after recovery. With the addition, total recovery tally of the country has advanced to 275,555 that equals to 96.4 percent.

With the spiking number of coronavirus infection cases, death toll has also been increasing in recent days. Eight deaths related to the coronavirus infections were reported in the past 24 hours.  With the addition, death toll due to the infection of coronavirus has advanced to 3,091.

There are currently 7,254 active cases across the country. Of them, only 81 individuals are staying in various quarantine facilities.
According to the MoHP, 1227 new cases were reported while conducting 7,548 tests in the last 24 hours.
