Hetauda, Nepal, June 29, 2020: Makawanpur Police has on Monday made public four persons of a family, who were already arrested on the charge of murdering another family member, Sushmita KC, 24 in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-4 on June 15.

The arrested are deceased’s father-in-law Prakash Thapa, 58, mother-in-law Tulasa Thapa, 50, elder sisters-in-law Durga Thapa, 27 and junior sisters-in-law Sita Thapa, 23. Makawanpur Police paraded them amid a press meet organized to make public the murder accident.

While revealing about the preliminary investigation report, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sushil Singh Rathore said that Sushmita was murdered by her husband’s family for different reasons including the insurance money.  Police have indicated father-in-law and junior sisters-in-law as prime accused of the murder case. Prakash and Sita were arrested on June 18.

It is found that Sushmita was murdered for the insurance money of her deceased husband, Rupendra Thapa, who died last September in a road accident, and to hide the sexual violence committed by father-in-law Prakash.

During the function, SP Rathore said that the Thapa family had been psychologically abusing Sushmita to claim money from various insurances. We have also found that the father-in-law Prakash had even tried to rape her at bathroom, SP Rathore said during the brief press meet.

Revealing about the total scenario of the murder, police said that Prakash and Sita had murdered Sushmita at around 10:00 on June 15 by pelting her head with stick and stones. After murdering Sushmita, they then locked the kitchen door from inside and came out from the window to make murder like a suicide.
