Kathmandu, Nepal, May 23, 2020: Secretriate meeting of the ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has reached on the conclusion ot endorse the much more touted Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) only after holding discussions at the party´s mechanism.
The NCP had called the secretariat meeting at the official resident of the prime minister KP Oli on Saturday evening with the view to discuss over upcomiing budget and MCC. At the meeting, members duo of the MCC studying committee- Bhim Bahadur Rawal and Pradip Gyawali and finance minister Yub Raj Khatiwada were invited. Reliable source, however, claims that Prime Minister Oli was absent in the meeting.
The decision to endorse the MCC only after holding discussion in the party has almost ended the prospect of passing it from ongoing session of the federal parliament, thanks to the differences in the NCP over the issue of endorsing the MCC. Likewise, uncertainty of the standing committee and Central committee meeting of the party has also fueled to make uncertain to endorse the MCC from ongoing session of the parliament.
The MCC study committee of the NCP formed under the leadership of forme prime minister Jhala Nath Khanal had recommended the party not to pass the MCC in this state demanding revision in some provisions.
