Kathmandu, Nepal ,January 30, 2026: As the country prepares for upcoming elections, security has been stepped up across the Kathmandu Valley to ensure a peaceful, fair, and secure voting environment. Nepal Police confirmed they have initiated joint patrols with the Nepal Army in sensitive areas of the capital as part of a comprehensive safety strategy.
With election day drawing near, authorities are on high alert to prevent incidents of vandalism, violence, or civil unrest. Security presence has been noticeably increased at crowded public spaces, government buildings, political party offices, Election Commission facilities, and major transport hubs.
Joint patrols involving the Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and the Nepal Army are now operating around the clock. According to officials, both daytime and nighttime patrols have been intensified, alongside stricter screenings of suspicious individuals and vehicles.
Security officials stated that the integrated security plan will be rolled out in stages throughout the election period. They added that additional personnel will be deployed as needed, emphasizing that any attempts to disrupt the electoral process will not be tolerated.
The police have urged citizens to cast their votes without fear and to cooperate with security personnel. Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to nearby police stations or security agencies immediately.
Authorities maintain that with these measures in place, the atmosphere in the Kathmandu Valley is becoming safer and more orderly, bolstering public confidence ahead of polling day.
