Security Tightened in Kathmandu Ahead of Elections; Joint Patrols Launched with Nepal Army

Kathmandu, Nepal ,January 30, 2026: As the country prepares for upcoming elections, security has been stepped up across the Kathmandu Valley to ensure a peaceful, fair, and secure voting environment. Nepal Police confirmed they have initiated joint patrols with the Nepal Army in sensitive areas of the capital as part of a comprehensive safety strategy.

With election day drawing near, authorities are on high alert to prevent incidents of vandalism, violence, or civil unrest. Security presence has been noticeably increased at crowded public spaces, government buildings, political party offices, Election Commission facilities, and major transport hubs.
