Nawalparasi, Nepal: The District Court at Nawalparasi has slapped life imprisonment to the accused of sacrificing a 10-year-old boy in Kudiya VDC of the district on Tuesday.
District Court judge Sweekrit Parajuli has made the verdict on the July 21, 2015 case of kidnap and murdered of a six year old boy in the name of sacrifice to a deity to ensure good health for a teen age boy.
Kodai Harijan, who was also the mastermind of the human sacrifice, faces life term along with the confiscation of all his properties while nine others face life term as per the verdict. Kodai Harijan had plotted the crime with the belief that sacrifice of boy would make well his 18 year old son.
Other people who face the life term are identified as Kanti Harijan, Bijaya Harijan, Suryabhan Harijan, Sunita Harijan, Rudal Harijan, Buniya Harijan, Ramananda Harijan, Dinananda Harijanand and Ganga Harijan. As Laxmi Harijian is minor among the convicted people, he has been convict to six months in jail.
