Kathmandu, Nepal, May 30, 2023: The government of Nepal has removed the requirement of mandatory negative PCR test reports and Covid-19 vaccination certificate for international air travelers visiting Nepal.
Responding the lowering rate of Covid-19 infection cases and its effects in Nepal and abroad, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MOCTCA), sent a letter to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), instructing the regulatory body to implement the government’s decision regarding the COVID-19 protocol.
The Ministry has made the decision in accordance to the decision of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Coordination Center (CCMCC). Following the decision of a meeting of the CCMCC held on May 14, it was recommended to the government to remove the provision of mandatory PCR test for air travelers.
With the decision of the Nepal government, foreigners visiting Nepal will no longer have to carry the vaccination QR code or a negative PCR report. However, the decision is not pertinent to the passengers going abroad from Nepal.
The government of Nepal has made the decision in line of the decision of the World Health Organization (WHO) to remove COVID-19’s status as a global health emergency.
