Guwahati : V Hangkhalian, BJP legislator of Churachandpur assembly constituency was sworn in as the Protem Speaker of the 60-member Manipur Assembly on Sunday.
Manipur governor Najma Heptulla administered the oath of Protem Speaker to Hangkhalian at a function held at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, few ministers and other top officials had attended the swearing in ceremony.
Following his swearing in as Protem Speaker, Hangkhalian administered the oath to newly elected lawmakers in the assembly premises.
Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh will face floor test in the assembly tomorrow.
