Guwahati : Assam police headquarter has directed the all districts police to collect about information of missing youths of the state, who were went to South India and gulf nations for working purpose.
Assam police has directed it following Intelligence Bureau (IB) input that, some youths of the state are in touch with ISIS and other jihadi organizations.
IB also warned Assam police that, some youths of the state are trying to contact with jihadi organizations.
'We have directed all districts police, specially the lower and middle Assam districts to collect information about the missing youths. In every year, over thousand youths of the state went to South India and gulf nations for working purpose. But the families of over 100 youths would not able to contact with their sons in past two years. It is a very concerning matter and we have taken it very seriously,' Assam police ADGP (SB) Pallav Bhattacharya said.
The top Assam cops further said that, Assam police has already contacted with the counterpart of Kerala.
Meanwhile, a recent report of IB submitted to the Union Home ministry revealed that, ISIS relevant searching through internet from Assam has gradually increased and several youths from the north eastern Indian state are trying to contact with the leaders of jihadi organizations.
A top IB official said that, ISIS has been trying to establish its base in India by creating sleeper cells.
The Union Home ministry worried about uprising jihadi activities in north eastern part and West Bengal.
