Kathmandu, Nepal, May 28, 2019: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is going to visit New Delhi on May 30 to take part in the swearing-in ceremony of his Indian Counterpart Narendra Modi.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on Monday extended invitation to Prime Minister Oli along with the heads of the government from other Bimstec member states to attend his swearing-in ceremony scheduled for May 30.
It is reported that Indian Prime Minister Modi has also invited Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, who is currently serving as chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the head of the government of Mauritius to take part in the swearing-in ceremony.
However, it is reported that such an invitation is not sent yet to the Maldives, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Indian Prime Minister Modi personally extended the invitation to all on Monday.
Indian Prime Minister Modi is going to assumes office for the next five years after his party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) garnered resounding victory in recent elections held for the lower houses (Lok Sabha).
It is reported that almost all the invites would reach New Delhi on May 29, just a day ahead of the swearing in ceremony except Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli as the government is scheduled to present the budget for the fiscal year 2019/20 on May 29.
During his previous swearing in ceremony in 2014, Indian Prime Minister Modi had also invited heads of the government from all SAARC member states. Then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, who was also the president of the Nepali Congress, had attended the event.
During this time also, Maldives, Pakistan and Afghanistan were not invited, thanks to the trouble relationship with the countries.
