Kathmandu, Nepal, December 5, 2022: The season-opening event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2022-23, Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open, is going to kick off at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today (on Tuesday).
The Surya Nepal sponsored event is being played over 72 holes in which cuts are applied after two rounds (36 holes). Only the top 21 pros and ties will make their journey to the final 36 holes along with amateurs.
A total of 31 professional golfers are taking part in the event. The winner will bag a purse of Rs116, 000. The first runner–up will bag Rs74, 000 while the third-up will take Rs63, 000.
According to the organizer, top 21 places and ties will earn prize money. Likewise, five Amateurs will rub shoulders with the professionals in this tournament. Nepal number one and regular on the Professional Golf Tour of India, Sukra Bahadur Rai, Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Dhana Thapa, Sanjay Lama, Rame Magar are the main contenders in the event.
The Surya Nepal Golf Tour has completed its 15th year. It has become an excellent platform for competitive golf in Nepal for both professional and amateurs.
