Guwahati, January 24 : Security forces had apprehended three militants including a top leader of NSCN(Kitovi-Neopak) group in Nagaland on January 23, officials said on Wednesday.

Acting on specific information from National Investigation Agency(NIA) about movement of a senior NSCN militant from Dimapur to Zunheboto, a joint team of Assam Rifles and NIA established multiple mobile vehicle check posts in Kohima district of Nagaland on Tuesday morning.

Kohima based defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer said that, during a vehicle check at the Mobile Vehicle Check Post at Zubza near Kohima, troops of security forces apprehended a Self Styled Brigadier of NSCN (KN) from a TATA Fortuner vehicle Regd No NL-07 C 2266 along with two other militants of NSCN (KN). 

The nabbed militants were identified as Self Styled Brigadier Aheto H, Self Styled Sergeant Witti Marak and Mughahoto Sumi.   

“Aheto Chopy is Accused No 3 in a NIA case No RC 03/2013/NIA/GUW pertaining to criminal conspiracy for misappropriation of government arms and ammunition belonging to Zunehboto District Executive Force Kote. A non bailable warrant was issued against him by a Special Judge of NIA on May 14, 2014 and subsequently on July 8, 2014,” the defence PRO said.

Security personnel had recovered one AK-56 rifle, two pistols, 176 rounds of ammunition, Rs 1,32,320 cash, mobile instruments and incriminating documents during the operation.
