Guwahati, September 1 : Unhappy with the Assam state government's role to protect indigenous people in the state, women protesters on Friday had staged protest against the state govrnment by shaving their head and demanded to secure their security and other issues.
Three activists of Swadhin Nari Shakti (SNS) had protested against the state government role by shaving their head and demanded to secure women security, protect indigenous people's rights, to stop attacks on indigenous people in the state.
Over 100 members of the women organization had staged a protest at Digholipukhuripar in Guwahati.
'We have strongly opposed the government decision to provide Indian citizenship to the hindu Bangladeshi people. We think that, the present BJP-led state government to do everything in greater interest of the indigenous people. But they didn't. In past a year, all government decisions went against the indigenous people,'Â a leader of the women organization said.
On the other hand, the activists of Asom Khilongia (Indigenous) Manch also staged a protest in front of the Raj Bhawan in Guwahati on Friday and demanded to secure land rights of indigenous people in the state.
Pro-talk ULFA leader Anup Chetia also took part in the agitation programme.
