Kathmandu, Nepal, May 2, 2022: The tourism business in Nepal has gradually been recovering from the severe consequences of coronavirus crisis that had badly affected the business since April 2019.

The concerned stakeholders have a saying that the tourists have been arriving now in Nepal for mountaineering purpose. It is expected that arrival of tourists would gradually increase in coming months, thanks to the slowdown effects of coronavirus infections.

The tourist arrival record updated by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) states that 58, 348 foreign tourists have arrived in Nepal in April, 2022 alone.

The figure is about 160 per cent higher than the corresponding period last year. 22,450 tourists had visited the country in April 2021.

Though the number of tourist arrival has gradually been increasing, it is not recovered yet. It is being feared that growing number of coronavirus infections in neighboring courtiers- India and China would hamper to recover the business soon.

Though 109,299 tourists had visited Nepal in April 2019, tourists arrival had almost all halted after the pandemic begun to hit hard from the month, April 2019.
