Kathmandu, Nepal, April 23, 2021: Internal rivalry of the ruling CPN-UML likely to escalate further after party chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli formed the party’s Standing Committee by removing all the leaders close to dissident factions led by Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal.
UML chairman Oli has made the decision at the time when he had held one-to-one meeting with leader Nepal to narrow down the internal rivalry of the party. However, the meeting had failed to bear fruits, thanks to the respective stands from both the sides. Leaders Nepal had stated while ousting from the meeting on Thursday that the meeting with Oli had ended with bitter note.
In the newly formed standing committee comprises the name as K P Sharma Oli, Bam Dev Gautam, Ishwar Pokharel, Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal”, Bishnu Paudel, Subas Nembang, Shankar Pokharel, Pradeep Gyawali, Lekh Raj Bhatta, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Satya Narayan Mandal, Bishnu Rimal, Chhabi Lal Bishwakarma, Prithvi Subba Gurung, Raghubir Mahaseth, Kiran Gurung, Keshab Badal, Pushpa Raj Kandel and Mani Thapa.
Badal, Bhatta, Rayamajhi and Thapa had recently detached relations with the CPN Maoist Center to join in the UML.
