KATHMANDU, NEPAL, December 21, 2025 – In a significant display of global and national commitment to mental well-being, Nepal joined the international community today to celebrate the second annual World Meditation Day.

Various programs are being held across the country to celebrate the day. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology organized a massive public meditation session at Sainik Manch, Tundikhel, drawing participants from across the capital on Sunday morning.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also recognized meditation—specifically mindfulness meditation—as a critical evidence-based self-care tool. The WHO stated that incorporating even a few minutes of meditation into a daily routine can significantly aid in stress management, reduce symptoms of anxiety, and enhance overall cognitive focus.
